Aberdeen defender Max Lowe has insisted the Dons can surpass Rangers – and believes they did exactly that in their 1-1 Scottish Cup draw on Sunday.
Neither side could book their place in the semi-final after Joe Worrall cancelled out Sam Cosgrove’s first-half penalty but Lowe thinks the Dons were the better team.

“We’ve shown we can surpass them in performance levels. I believe we did that on Sunday,” Lowe told RedTV.
“We all knew that we needed that second goal to be comfortable and we were still searching for it, even at 1-0. When it went back to 1-1 we had some really good chances to win it, but it just wasn’t meant to be – not our day.”

The two sides will meet again on March 12th for the right to play Celtic in the semis next month – and both will be hoping to put an end to Celtic’s hopes of a triple treble.
Despite Derek McInnes’ side struggling at home recently, they put in a composed performance against the Gers and should be disappointed they didn’t kill the game off.

With a trip to Ibrox now facing them next week, McInnes’ side will need to do it the hard way if they want to book themselves another semi-final appearance.
If the Dons can get past Steven Gerrard’s side then they’ll surely want a measure of revenge for their last visit to Hampden – losing the League Cup final to Celtic.
