Another game, another set of goals for Aberdeen’s man of the moment Sam Cosgrove, who is getting better with every passing game.
The striker netted twice in Aberdeen’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Hearts. It takes him to an astonishing eight goals in five games so far this season.

Critique his all-round play all you want, Cosgrove is proving he’ll be a player to fear this season.
Aberdeen’s Cosgrove is getting better and contributing more
I recently cast doubt over what Cosgrove brings to Pittodrie as a whole. The truth is, on the evidence of his opening five games, is that his lack of all-round play is made up for in goals.
Sure he’s not the best at linking play or winning the aerial battles. He’s not the perfect player by any stretch of the imagination, but he is deadly in front of goal.

Cosgrove scores all types of goals. Penalties, headers, close range finishes, curled shots from the edge of the box. Give Cosgrove the ball with the net in range and there’s good chance he’s scoring.
He can’t be stopped right now. It seems like everything he touches at present turns to goals. With his goal record, the 22-year-old is growing in confidence, which has had a positive effect on his all-round game.
His contributions to the Red Army at the moment are priceless. He looks certain to hit 20 goals again this campaign. It’ll be a shock if he doesn’t, given he’s almost half way there already.

Cosgrove is flying at the moment and Aberdeen are the benefactors of his current purple patch.
