Kilmarnock have been given some news they would rather have done without.

It has been revealed that Alfredo Morelos will be eligible to play for Rangers against the Rugby Park side in next week’s Scottish Cup replay.

This is despite the player being suspended for the first game between the side. He is also suspended for the Gers’ next two league games.

The striker received a three match ban for his latest sending-off against Aberdeen, but the Scottish Sun disclosed that two of the games he is banned for are league games.

This is because it is the player’s second red card of the season in the league.

Steve Clarke won’t be happy about facing Morelos as he has a good record against the Rugby Park side. He scored a hat-trick when the teams met in league cup action in August.

He also scored when the teams drew 1-1 at Ibrox in October.

Clarke was no doubt aware that the replay at Ibrox would be difficult enough if Morelos had been suspended. Now that the striker is eligible to play, it makes a tough task all that much harder.

Still, Clarke has had plenty of good results against both Rangers and Celtic since taking over at Kilmarnock. He will be quietly confident of putting over Rangers, Morelos and all, in the cup tie.
