St Johnstone have been handed a boost in their bid to pull off a shock victory over Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday.
Gers boss Steven Gerrard has disclosed that the Ibrox side are in the middle of a potential injury crisis.
Gerrard revealed to the Scottish Sun that both Kyle Lafferty and Jermaine Defore are injury doubts for the game.
With both Allan McGregor and Alfredo Morelos already out of the game suspended, the Saints could be facing a weakened Rangers side.
If both Defoe and Lafferty miss the game, it greatly boosts St Johnstone’s chances of pulling off an upset. Of course, the Saints would still have to be at their very best to get something from the game.
The Saints have been in poor form recently, but they have ran Rangers close this season. It took a late Morelos goal to secure a 2-1 at McDiarmid Park in December.
The first 20 minutes of the game will be key for Tommy Wright’s side. If they can emerge through them unscathed, the Rangers support could get on top of their side.
But if the Saints concede an early goal, it will be a difficult day even against an injury ravaged Ibrox outfit.
Only time will tell, but this potential injury crisis is nothing but good news for the Perth side.
