Plans to introduce Celtic and Rangers Colts teams to League Two have been brought back to the discussion board.
Senior figures are leading the charge to get the Celtic and Rangers ‘B’ teams into League Two with the hope that plans could be formalised for the start of next season. This would of course alter the look of League Two.

Alongside the youth teams from Celtic Park and Ibrox, two teams each from the Highland and Lowland Leagues would join a revamped fourth tier for the start of the 2021/22 campaign in the summer.
The Glasgow pair would offer £1million over four years in order to compensate clubs for any lost cash and the purchase of hundreds of tickets for each away game would also be a guarantee.
Currently, Colt teams can play in the Challenge Cup, with Rangers Colts making the semi-final stage of the tournament in the 2019/20 season. It was scrapped for this season due to the Covid-19 pandemic, English, Irish and Welsh sides also involved in recent times.

Proposals as part of wider reconstruction in the Scottish game failed last summer as adding colt sides to the SPFL’s bottom tier took a hit. But now they are back on the table but gathering support may prove challenging.
Already there are clubs across League Two opposed to the idea and it would appear as if challenges await those trying to push through radical change in the SPFL.
