The Scottish Championship title race is one of the most unpredictable in football.
This was most recently shown on Tuesday night, as Ayr blew the chance to go top of the table.
The Honest Men lost 3-2 to Inverness, having at one stage been 3-0 down.
Ross County now lead the table from Ayr by 3 points, with Dundee United a further 3 points behind.
The lack of consistency from each team involved in the title race is what has made the league so exciting.
No team can put together a winning run.
The title race might well come down to indivuality against experience.
There’s no doubt that Ayr have the best player in the in Lawrence Shankland.
He has terrified defences all season, but Ayr have found it difficult to cope when he has been out of the side.
On the flip side, you have the experienced team of Ross County, who were relegated last season, and whose players have seen and done it all.
That is not the case with Ayr, who it should be remembered played in the First Division last season.
Third placed Dundee United under Robbie Nielson can’t be discounted either, as he has already won promotion from the Championship whilst at Hearts.
Whatever the oucome, it looks certain that this will be the title race to watch in Scotland in the months to come.
