Hibernian have enoyed a fine start to life under new boss Paul Heckingbottom.

Two wins from two and decent performances to boot, Hibs fans will be pleased with how their side have performed in recent weeks. Possibly the most pleasing aspect of the mini resurgence at Easter Road is the blossoming of a deadly strike force between Mark McNulty and Florian Kamberi

January signing McNulty has started strongly for Heckingbottom’s side, registering four goals and two assists since joining on loan from Reading. Not only that, but he seems to be bringing the best out of Swiss striker Kamberi.

The striker had only scored two goals in 14 games before McNulty’s arrival, but in the three games they have started together, he has notched twice.

McNulty seems to be getting the best out of Kamberi and it could drive Hibs back into the top six.

The perfect partners

The pair have lots of quality between them. Everybody knows Kamberi’s potential, but he didn’t have a decent enough strike partner to bounce off like last season when he had Jamie Maclaren to pair up with.

Sure he had the Australian for the first part of this season, but it was clear something just wasn’t clicking.

McNulty offers something different to Maclaren. Kamberi and Maclaren are similar strikers in terms of playing style, whereas McNulty is more of a creative forward. He likes having the ball at his feet and has the ability to open up a defence with his technique and movement.

This suits Kamberi perfectly. He needs someone to provide him with opportunities, and the Reading man certainly does that. McNulty set up Kamberi for his opening goal against Dundee, so it’s clear that the former Livingston striker understands Kamberi’s needs.

The promising thing about the pair is this is only the beginning. They have only just started playing together and already there seems to be a strong connection between the two.

The McNulty and Kamberi partnership has started strongly.

It looks set to become a deadly pairing moving into the final stages of this season. Time will tell whether the pair can keep it up on the home straight.
