As Hearts head towards the end of the season, Craig Levein faces a dilemma most other managers would love to have.
That dilemma – resting players for the Scottish Cup Final. The Hearts boss is in a privileged position, as he prepares for Hearts’ day of destiny against Celtic on the 25th of May.
However, Levein will have to be careful that he doesn’t rest too many players in the run-up to the game.
If you look at Hearts’ fixtures in the run-up to the cup final, you would imagine that they will play their strongest side against Rangers this weekend, and when they take on Hibs in the last Edinburgh derby of the season.
The two games they could rest players/give players just returning from injury a chance to play may well be the fixtures against Kilmarnock and Aberdeen.
The last game before the cup final is an intriguing one. Hearts travel to Celtic Park in a dress rehearsal for the cup final.
The teams both sides pick that day will be interesting. Neither side will want to be at the end of a defeat. However, one might not want to play your full team with the cup final only six days later.
The next five weeks for Hearts promises to be interesting for a number of reasons. Levein’s upcoming team selections are just one of them.
