According to the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace are after Everton midfielder James McCarthy.

The Irishman made just one appearance at Goodison Park last term.

If this deal comes off it would lead to a Hamilton reunion at Selhurst Park. McCarthy would be with his fellow Accies youth academy graduate James McArthur once more.

McArthur and McCarthy great examples for Hamilton young guns

The pair have been with each other at several points in their careers. They started out as youngsters together at Hamilton.

They were the perfect combination. McCarthy would do all the dirty work of winning it in the middle. He’d then play it to McArthur, who would link play from midfield to attack with ease.

Playing a combined total of 246 games in South Lanarkshire, many of them together, it’s fair to say both McArthur and McCarthy are two players held in very high regard by Hamilton.

Roberto Martinez reunited them at Wigan, where they want on to topple Manchester City together in a shock FA Cup win back in 2013.

These two midfielders have been with each other for many a game and many a season. They’re two shining examples for young Hamilton prospects as to what can happen with hard work and application whilst at the club.

Now the two could be set for a London reunion. There would definitely be a few Hamilton fans tuning into Palace games next season if their two former academy products were controlling the midfield like they used to do as Accies youngsters.
