Hibernian head coach Paul Heckingbottom has identified the style of play that will take the Easter Road club to the next level next season.
The Edinburgh club managed to finish fifth in the Premiership table after an indifferent start to the season. Now Heckingbottom wants to try to make the Hibees a different proposition next season.
“I want pace and power in the team, I want athleticism, I want players who are good one against one, just to get more control over every aspect of the game” he said, as reported by the Evening News.
“I want to have more control of the game with the ball, without the ball and good players one v one” he continued.
That all sounds very promising for Hibs fans. It’s no shock that Heckingbottom wants to put his own stamp on the team. After all, next season will be his first full season in charge.
Depend on signings
However, Heckingbottom’s plans to revamp the Hibs side will depend on the players he recruits. If he is able to bring in the players he wants, he can mould the Hibernian side into the image of a Heckingbottom team.
It will be to Hibs’ benefit to bring in the new signings as soon as possible. That will get them used to the style of play Heckingbottom wants to start.
It all sounds very promising for Hibs fans. Now it will be down to the board to deliver the players the head coach wants.
