Hibs confirmed yesterday via Twitter that they had taken South African forward Ryan Moon on trial.
Formerly of Kaizer Chiefs, the striker is on the lookout for a new club after leaving the Chiefs. It’ll be up to him now to impress Paul Heckingbottom as he aims to win an Easter Road deal.

Who exactly is he though? NTOF gives you a bit of information about the Hibs trialist.
Moon in need of a lift, could Hibs give him it
Aged 22, Moon spent three seasons with the Kaizer Chiefs. He made just 13 league appearances last season, scoring zero times over 292 minutes out on the park.
His breakout year came a few years ago during the 2017/18 campaign. Moon netted four times in 13 lively appearances, going on to make South Africa’s Cosafa Cup squad.

In total he played 42 times for the Chiefs, scoring six times. For a centre forward that isn’t great no matter the level, but his breakout season showed there is a player in there somewhere.
Fairly quick with decent dribbling ability, Moon isn’t going to score double figures potentially most seasons. Regardless of the other work he does, that benchmark has to be the minimum for a striker.
He must have something if Heckingbottom has given him a trial. He’ll need to really impress him to show he’s more than what his stats suggest.

It’ll be interesting to see if he can make an impact during Hibs’ pre-season friendlies. They play Arbroath in a friendly on Wednesday night.
