Aberdeen fans will be thrilled with some recent comments made by Dons goalkeeper Joe Lewis.
Lewis has disclosed that he still enjoys playing for the Pittodrie side that he joined in 2016.
“I’m still enjoying my football here – I’ve enjoyed every minute of it with Aberdeen” he told the Evening Express.
“I want that to continue being the case, keep my head down and keep working hard to contribute to a successful team.”
Lewis has been an exceptional goalkeeper for the Dons in the last three seasons. His good form his continued this season, keeping 14 clean sheets so far.
Lewis will be a huge player for the Dons in their upcoming Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic. If the Dons are to reach the cup final, they will need Lewis to be at his very best.
It is interesting that Lewis has not yet been lured away from the Dons. Aberdeen fans will be hoping he stays at the club for a while yet, but his excellent form could well attract clubs in England.
Thankfully for the Dons, his contract runs until 2020, so should the player leave in the summer, Aberdeen will still get a good bit of money for Lewis.
However, Derek McInnes and all at Aberdeen will be hoping Lewis stays at the club for a while yet. And judging by Lewis’ comments, he looks in no hurry to leave.
