Aberdeen goalkeeper Joe Lewis has admitted that the Dons have to win more trophies.
The Pittodrie side have only won one piece of silverware in the last 20 years, the 2014 League Cup.
Lewis has revealed that are winning trophies are more important to him than finishing second in the Premiership table.
“You’re at Aberdeen to win trophies – that’s what the expectations are from fans, management and us” he told the BBC.
“Coming second and we’ve had decent seasons, decent achievements, but actually winning a trophy is what matters and what you’re remembered for.”
Aberdeen have finished in second place in the last four seasons of the Scottish Premiership. However, they have lost three cup finals, all to Celtic, in that time.
This season they sit eight points behind Rangers in the battle for second place, and their season has come down to Tuesday night’s Scottish Cup tie against Rangers at Ibrox.
Lewis and his team-mates can be confident going into the game. They defeated Rangers 1-0 at Ibrox in December.
Lewis will need to be at his best at Ibrox if he is to back-up his words and help the Dons to their first trophy in five years.
