Liam Lindsay looks set to leave Barnsley any day now. The Scottish Sun have reported the Tykes have accepted a Stoke City bid of £2 million plus add ons for the defender. That could have a knock on effect for St Johnstone.

Back in January, according to the Scottish Sun, Barnsley made a bid of £100,000 for Saints defender Jason Kerr. That was obviously too low and the McDiarmid Park club rightly booted the offer out.

Now that Barnsley will have money to play with when Lindsay’s deal is finalised, will Kerr be a replacement for the ex-Partick Thistle man?

Barnsley have more weight to throw at Kerr

The bid launched in January was derogatory. In the market today, St Johnstone should be looking to sell him for a high price to a team down south. Given his potential as well, Kerr should be marketed at anywhere between £750,000 and a seven figure sum.

Is he worth that just now? Probably not, but given the state of the market down south, the Perth based side should look to expose it and gain what they can for Kerr, should he want a move.

Tommy Wright will obviously want to keep the defender. He’s still young and has already shown he has the ability to become a Saints captain.

Good in the air and strong in the tackle, Kerr can do all the basics excellently, plus a bit more. He can also move the ball comfortably.

According to a recent Scottish Sun report on Kerr, Barnsley have made Kerr their number one target. With an extra £2 million plus add ons at their disposal, you’d like to think they could launch a sizeable bid for the Saints defender.

St Johnstone fans will hope for a dramatic change in circumstances when it comes to Lindsay. It may just help them keep their star defender at McDiarmid Park
