Aberdeen boss Stephen Glass was left furious last night after being told he couldn’t talk to referee Willie Collum after another hapless performance from the official in the Dons’ clash with Celtic last night – with the Pittodrie gaffer left wondering why Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou was allowed to speak to Collum.
The referee made a number of errors – including allowing what looked like an offside winner from Celtic star Jota to stand – and Glass wanted an explanation at the final whistle.
“I was [furious with the goal] as well. From the side he looks offside but regardless, he fouls Batesy and stops him running back to deal with Jota who scores the goal,” Glass said,
“Again, I say it very week, I don’t want to talk about referees but there is a reason you ask me these questions.
“I was warned and told before the end of the game not to go onto the pitch and speak to the referee.
“But he didn’t tell both managers, he told one manager.
“And maybe that’s because he realised he made a mistake.
“The fourth official was told to tell me not to speak to him on the pitch after the game, but both managers didn’t get treated the same.
“Maybe there’s a reason.
“All we can focus on and control is our performance level.
“I think first half we didn’t get close enough to them, and I’m not going to blame referees, we need to be better performance-wise.”
The result sees Aberdeen drop to ninth in the table – however, Glass’ side remains only four points behind Dundee United in fourth.
A Scottish Cup clash this weekend gives the Dons a chance to turn their attention away from the league briefly and look to book their spot in the quarter-finals when they face Motherwell.
