The Steelmen confirmed the news on their Twitter account but also announced that he would miss Wednesday’s meeting with Kilmarnock.

McHugh was stretchered off after a clash with Odsonne Edouard and was taken to hospital for scans and suffered a similar injury in December.

He had replaced Tom Aldred earlier in the game after the defender was injured before being hurt himself.

The Well ace also spent months on the sidelines a few years ago after suffering a serious concussion shortly after joining the Fir Park side.

While the concussion protocols will force him to miss the Killie clash, the news that there’s no seriosu damage will be a relief.

McHugh was left unconcious on the Celtic Park pitch and was jeered by a section of the home support as he was taken off.

Whether he’ll be fit to make Saturday’s Lanarkshire derby with Hamilton remains to be seen.

If he gets the all-clear over the next few days then it would bring him right into contention for the Accies clash.
