Aberdeen could be set to make a move for Motherwell’s Alex Gorrin, according to a report. The Scottish Sun has disclosed that the Dons are weighing up the possibility of signing the midfielder to replace Graeme Shinnie.
The report goes on to claim that Toronto FC and Atlanta United have an interest in the player, who has not signed a deal offered to him by the Fir Park side and is a free agent.
Mainstay for the Steelmen
Gorrin became a mainstay for the Steelmen in the second-half of the season, making 25 appearances overall.
If the Dons can manage to sign the player on a free transfer it would be a good bit of business. It remains to be seen if Gorrin would be as effective as Shinnie.
Shinnie was one of Aberdeen’s best players in the last couple of years. Gorrin would need to be a great player to do as much for the Dons as Shinnie did.
Fans will be pleased with urgency
Overall, Dons fans will be pleased that the club are trying to get their transfer business done quickly this summer. With a rebuilding job on the horizon, the Dons need to get new signings in, particularly before the Europa League qualifiers begin.
We don’t as yet know if Gorrin will sign for the Dons. But it looks as if Aberdeen are going to be active in the transfer window this summer.
