Hearts defender Jamie Brandon has admitted he made a “stupid decision” against Celtic which saw him sent off recently – costing the Jambos a potential win over the Hoops.

Brandon saw red just before half-time and Celtic would eventually score the winner in the final moments of the game.

The former Rangers kid admitted that he felt like he was responsible for the defeat and told how he apologised to his team-mates.

“I just apologised to the boys in the changing room,” Brandon said, as quoted by the Edinburgh Evening News.

“I watched it back and I haven’t meant to go and hit the boy but it looks like I have. It was just a stupid decision, especially so close to half-time. I felt like I cost the boys the three points.

“After a couple of days, I tried to move past it. I tried to be as positive as I could in training, working hard and trying to get myself back in the team. The manager said it was a stupid decision but you will learn from it and move past it.”

The Celtic clash was Brandon’s first appearance in 14 months after suffering a torn cruciate ligament.

His dismissal earned him a two-match ban but he returned in the weekend meeting with Hamilton.

With two weeks until Hearts are back in action, Brandon will have to kick his heels and wait for another chance to get out and show what he can do.

After impressing in his appearances before his injury, Brandon looks to have a big future at Tynecastle.
