Dundee United boss Robbie Neilson has confirmed that the club will be without two strikers for next week’s potential title decider against Ross County.

Pavol Safranko will miss the game after being called up for international duty by Slovakia. Whilst Neilson has revealed that Osman Sow will miss the game due to a calf injury.

“I think Osman will be out for a week or two, to be honest” he told The Courier.

“We will judge it after Saturday but I don’t think he will be ready.”

The Tannadice side currently sit 11 points behind Ross County in the Championship table. If they are to have any chance of catching the Staggies, they will need to defeat Dunfermline on Saturday then defeat the league leaders on Tuesday night.

The chances of winning both games must have reduced significantly with the absence of Safranko and Sow. Should Neilson manage to mastermind two wins though, it will be a huge boost for United going forward.

Even if they win both games it seems unlikely United will win the Championship title. Ross County seem too consistent to give up such a big lead in the table.

It would give the team plenty of confidence for the promotion/relegation play-offs however. The next two games could well define United’s season.
