Dundee could have pulled off a bit of a coup with the signing of Ryan McGowan.
The Dens Park side announced the player’s arrival on loan from Bradford City on their official website.
McGowan is the sort of player that is needed in a relegation battle, which Dundee are currently in.
They sit only a point ahead of last placed St Mirren in the league table.
McGowan has the experience to help Dundee pull away from that though.
He has played for a host of clubs, and has been a bit of a football nomad.
But that doesn’t mean he won’t have the qualities to succeed for Dundee.
McGowan did well in his spells at Scottish clubs before, particularly when he broke through at Hearts.
The fact that he is able to play in both defence and attack is also a boost.
It will be intriguing to see if Dundee boss Jim McIntyre deploys in defence, as they really need to shore things up at the back, they’ve conceded 48 goals this season.
In the last hours of the transfer window it can be difficult to get deals done.
It can be even more difficult to get good deals done.
But with the signing of Ryan McGowan Dundee have managed to do both.
He will be a key man in their battle to stay in the Scottish Premiership.
