The injury suffered by Hibernian centre-back Ryan Porteous in the recent 1-0 loss to Motherwell is the latest blow in what has been a poor season so far for Neil Lennon’s side.
Porteous, one of the Easter Road side’s players of the season, latest less than half an hour at Fir Park.
He could well be out of action for some time, as the Edinburgh Evening News reported that he is waiting on the results of a scan on the injury.
The injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for Lennon, who has seen his side slump to 8th place in the league table.
Lennon has had to deal with an injury crisis this season, as well as the loss of Scott Allan, John McGinn and Dylan McGeouch.
However, the Hibernian fans and Lennon would have expected better from the team after finishing 4th in the league last season, and they have had decent results against both sides of the Old Firm.
The loss of Porteous could be a step too far in the battle to get into the top six, but Lennon does still have time in the January transfer window to get replacements.
Hibernian fans and Lennon will be hopeful that the results of the scan aren’t too serious, and that Porteous is able to return sooner rather than later.
