Scott Pittman has revealed why he signed a new deal with Livingston, despite reported interested from Aberdeen.

The player recently signed a deal until 2021 with the Premier League side. This was despite interest from Aberdeen, who were reportedly considering a summer move for the player after enquiring about his availability in the summer.

Now Pittman has explained why he decided to stay at Livingston.

“Whenever there is speculation it’s on your mind” he told the Scottish Sun.

“It’s flattering that Aberdeen were reportedly interested. But you can’t sit and wait for things to happen.

“That’s why I was happy to extend my stay at Livingston.”

Pittman seems to be indicating that had Aberdeen moved for him in January he would have considered making the move to Pittodrie.

However, as the Dons seem to have been content to sit and wait, Pittman has decided to commit his future to Livingston.

Perhaps the Dons could still make a move for the player in the summer. They would have to pay more money now though.

That all depends on if Derek McInnes follows up Aberdeen’s reported interest in the player.

Pittman has had an excellent season for Livingston. He would have been a good addition to the Aberdeen squad. For the moment though, the player had committed his future to Livingston.
