Aberdeen fans have been handed some good news as a difficult season comes to a close. The club’s vice-chairman Dave Cormack has revealed that McInnes would turn down any chance to become the Scotland manager to stay at Pittodrie.
Scotland are currently without a manager, and unsurprisingly McInnes is one of the names touted to get the job. However, Cormack has disclosed that McInnes has told him that he will not be leaving the Dons.
No move to international football

“Derek is very attracted to being Scotland manager at some stage, but not just now” the vice-chairman told the BBC.
“Whilst Derek himself aspires to be Scotland manager at some stage, Derek’s made the decision that that time is not now – that he wants to focus on club football.”

A relief to all at Pittodrie
This is certainly a relief for all at Aberdeen. It would have been a difficult job to replace McInnes, who overall has done a good job at Pittodrie, despite a relatively poor season this year.

McInnes will be looking to help the Dons qualify for Europe at the weekend, then rebuild for next season. The rebuild for the Dons would be far more difficult to achieve if it included looking for a new manager.
However, it seems that for the time being, McInnes is committed to Aberdeen. That can only be good news for all at the club.
