It will be very interesting to see the team selected by Steve Clarke for Kilmarnock’s match against Celtic on Sunday.

It is a game the Rugby Park side must win of they are to hold on to any faint hope they could win the title. They currently sit 11 points behind Celtic.

Complicating matters though, is that only three days after the Celtic clash, Clarke’s side travel to Ibrox to face Rangers in a Scottish Cup replay.

The Killie boss now has a dilemma, which game will he prioritise? It would make more sense to make the cup the number one target.

It seems highly unlikely that Killie are going to win the league, but they are more than capable of defeating Rangers. Indeed, they defeated the Ibrox side 2-1 in January.

That could affect the team selected by Clarke for the match against Celtic. If there are players who are 50/50, he might put them on the bench against Celtic, with a view to starting them at Ibrox.

A case in point is Eamonn Brophy. The 1o goal striker is out with a knee injury, but Clarke disclosed to Kilmarnock’s website that he ‘could‘ be back in time for Ibrox.

It will be interesting to see how involved he is against Celtic, perhaps a start on the bench is most likely.

Clarke will naturally want to win both matches, and he has a very good record against both halves of the Old Firm. But if he was to consider which of the two games was the most important, the cup tie could well win out.
