Hearts striker Uche Ikpeazu has had an up and down season. He didn’t score a lot of goals this season – only eight in total – but was a constant threat to the opposition whenever he played.

Unfortunately, injuries played a big part in his season. He was only able to appear as a second-half substitute for the 2-1 Scottish Cup Final loss to Celtic.

He also missed four months of the season due to a foot injury. An injury which he feels he hasn’t recovered from yet.

“Getting through games”

“I don’t feel as though I’ve been right since I came back from my injury. Sometimes it’s just been about getting through games” he said, as reported by the Scottish Sun.

Ikpeazu feels that the upcoming summer break will help him to improve his game next season.

“I’m going to have a break and come back in the best physical shape possible.”

Very promising

That sounds very promising for the Hearts support. If Ikpeazu had managed to keep fit this season, he would have no doubt added to his goal tally.

It wasn’t that much of a surprise that Hearts’ season started to fall apart when both Ikpeazu and Steven Naismith got injured at the same time.

If the duo can keep fit for next season, Hearts could have a real shot at making Europe and winning a trophy.
