Dundee haven’t been in the best of form this season.

They have struggled towards the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table for months.

This poor form eventually culminated in the sacking of Neil McCann.

McCann was replaced by Jim McIntyre, but results were still poor, for the most part.

That all changed though in Dundee’s most recent league game.

A thoughly convincing 2-1 win over Hearts at Tynecastle, which saw them go above St Mirren in the league table.

McIntyre won’t be getting carried away, as he knows that there will still be twists and turns in the weeks ahead.

But the manner of the win must give him hope ahead of their next match, at home to Motherwell.

The race to avoid relegation seems to be between Dundee, Hamilton and St Mirren.

With Dundee’s recent win, they have shown that they are most likely to avoid the drop, and the relegation play-offs.

The big test now will be putting a run of victories together.

After all, the win at Tynecastle was only Dundee’s third victory of the season.

However, there was enough in the performance to show that the Dens Park side are capable of getting the wins that will keep them up for another season.
