Motherwell fans usually turn up in their thousands to see their side take on Hamilton, but this weekend, they are being priced out of the clash.
This weekend, the Well travel to South Lanarkshire to take on Accies in the Lanarkshire derby. Accies are currently on three points whilst the Well have one point from their opening two league fixtures.
Accies have deemed it fit to charge full paying Well fans £25, with a £15 charge for U18s and Over 65s. It’s not a great move for home fans either, who also have to pay more than usual for this clash.
Granted, Motherwell’s prices for full paying away fans aren’t much better. The Steelmen charge £24 for away fans to see the match, but that price is respectable, with the massive reduction in juvenile prices they offer.
It’s a shocking move from Accies.
Hamilton have treated Motherwell fans terribly here
For every other Hamilton home game, the prices are cheaper, excluding clashes with Celtic and Rangers. The only motive for this move is money.
Motherwell turn up in their thousands for this clash, and regularly outnumber the home fans on their South Lanarkshire travels. It’s a poor move from Accies as they look to exploit punters for cash.
Yes it’s a derby, but that doesn’t mean fans should be charged a premium for it now.
Kids prices are really poor, considering the Well are only charging £3 for juveniles this season. Motherwell are making football affordable for families, it’s a shame Accies aren’t having the same courtesy with Motherwell fans.
It’s £55 for an adult to take their two children to this game. Not only that, but Accies aren’t operating a pay at the gate system. For fans that can’t get over to Fir Park to buy tickets during the week, that is a logistical nightmare.
Hamilton have put corporate greed over fan interests. This clash is usually one of their only highly attended matches. It’s almost as if they are trying to kill the atmosphere in the stadium.
You can’t blame fans for not turning up to this clash at the prices Hamilton are charging. It’s great to see that a good matchday experience is at the forefront of Hamilton’s mindset ahead of this match.
