Motherwell passed up the chance to go second, at least temporarily, against Ross County in what was a sobering weekend for the Fir Park club.

At home to the Staggies and arguably favourites for the match, the Well were in front thanks to Allan Campbell. It was downhill from there, with Brian Graham equalising, Jake Carroll seeing red and Ross Stewart sealing a County win in the 88th minute.

It wasn’t the worst Motherwell performance in the world, but it certainly put some things into perspective.

Motherwell are a fairly new unit, setbacks like the Ross County defeat will happen

Riding high after back to back wins over Hearts and Hibs, expectations were raised heading into the Staggies clash.

WAYNE ROONEY TO EVERTON IS A JOKE.

A general rule of thumb for being a Well fan is not getting too high when you win and not getting too low when you lose. For the first time in a while though, fans have bought into the hype.

Stephen Robinson’s side have displayed brilliant attacking prowess in their opening matches, whilst the likes of Declan Gallagher and Peter Hartley look solid at the back.

It has been shown though that this side will be inconsistent. Robinson has a team with brilliant potential, but some are still finding their feet at Fir Park.

In the Ross County matchday squad, the Steelmen had nine summers signings in the team. They’re all still getting to know each other and it’ll take time to click.

During this game things didn’t quite go to plan. Players like Sherwin Seedorf weren’t as menacing, but they were doing enough to limit County from troubling them.

Oddly enough, when Motherwell scored, it was County who received the boost from it. The Well performance went flat after that and taking Liam Polworth off really disrupted their rhythm.

Whilst it was a disappointing result for fans, it shouldn’t dishearten them. On another day Gallagher’s goal stands and perhaps we are telling a different tale.

Saturday did give both fans and the manager a bit of perspective though. This team won’t perform amazingly every week, so they must take every round of fixtures as a clean slate.

Motherwell will be fine this season and should push for the top six. Well fans shouldn’t get too hung up over this result.
