The summer transfer window is finished for another season and there was plenty of movement as always in the Scottish Premiership.
Every club in the Premiership made moves for players, whilst some lost some pretty important stars too.

Our writers have had their say on five of the ten Premiership side’s transfer activity and where it leaves them following the conclusion of the transfer window.
Livingston
Ben Banks: “They’ve not signed any big names as such but they are still producing the results on the park. Lyndon Dykes has been pretty decent and Marvin Bartley has been very good so far.
“They’ve lost some decent players, especially in defence, so it’s a testament to Gary Holt that they are third in the table as we speak.”

James Black: “They’ve lost Craig Halkett, Liam Kelly, Declan Gallagher, Ryan Hardie and Shaun Byrne. On paper at least Bartley is probably the only decent name they’ve brought in.
“Robbie Crawford is also a good signing from Ayr. It’ll be more of a test of Gary Holt and what he can get out of what he’s got now.”
Aberdeen
JB: “Aberdeen look good on paper, they’ve arguably replaced everything they’ve lost. I’m not 100% convinced they’ve replaced Max Lowe at left-back yet, as I think Greg Leigh perhaps underestimates Scottish football a wee bit, judging his recent comments. He has played quite well so far though.”

John Reid: “Craig Bryson was a surprise, but we don’t know if he’s good enough yet as he has hardly played. Another big thing is not selling Scott McKenna, which could be really important.”
Motherwell
BB: “Motherwell have made a good bit of cash in the window, with compensation fees from youth players like Jake Hastie and Stuart McKinstry.
“If he gets fits and stays about, keeping David Turnbull is massive. A number ten or a number nine is perhaps missing from the squad right now.”

JB: “This is an interesting one for me, as it’s a complete list of ‘who are you?’ There’s a whole list of people who have went out too and nobody is much of a miss either.”
Kilmarnock
BB: “The big problem for me is quality replacements. I know circumstances haven’t helped, but Niko Hamalainen is never going to be able to fully replace Greg Taylor.
“Sow hasn’t scored much over the past few years and they’ve mostly signed loan players. Once they get to January or next summer, they’ll need another rebuild.

JR: “They’ve signed two boys from Juventus in Dario Del Fabro and Laurentiu Branescu which sounds good. The signing of Osman Sow is a really weird one though.”
Hamilton
JB: “Owain Fon Williams is a really good one for them, someone I really rate. Brian Rice has brought in a lot of proven SPFL talent, although I think some of the ones they’ve lost might be problematic.
“Ziggy Gordon might be a loss. Losing Tom Taiwo could be a problem in midfield but he did go downhill towards the end of his Accies career.”

JR: “The two boys from St Johnstone in Brian Easton and Blair Alston are two really good players. I think they’ll do well for them. Signings like that will be enough to keep them up.”
