It has been a poor season for Motherwell all things considered.

Their season all but ended with a 2-1 Scottish Cup defeat to Ross County.

They have no chance of being relegated, they sit currently 15 points ahead of bottom of the table St Mirren.

So now the club is in a bit of a limbo until the end of the season.

That was always going to be the case after last season though.

The Steelmen reached both domestic cup finals last season, a great feat for a provincial club.

They might have lost both games to Celtic, but getting there was the real achievement.

Naturally this season manager Stephen Robinson hasn’t been able to replicate the success of last season.

That doesn’t mean that Robinson isn’t doing a decent job though, as he has the Steelmen well clear of the relegation places.

There is a chance that might not be enough for supporters though.

They could have wanted the club to kick on from last season’s success, which hasn’t happened.

The rest of the season could well decide if Robinson is still in charge of Motherwell next season.

If the team finishes strongly, he could well be in charge come pre-season training.

However, if the rest of the season peters out, then it may well be time for a change at Fir Park.
