Morton caretaker manager Anton McElhone was full of praise for Kalvin Orsi after he scored both of the goals in the 2-0 win over Queen of the South.
McElhone was particularly impressed with how Orsi had the beating of the Queens centre-backs in the game. This was shown in the 23-year-old’s second goal, as he managed to beat the centre-backs and head home Robbie Muirhead’s corner.
“Kalvin deserves everything he gets. He works hard, he does all the right things, his attitude is first class, and he’s hungry to score goals” he said.
“You seen today, he’s lead the line against two giants, and he’s manhandled them. So well done to Kalvin, but well done to the team, because they gave the ball to him” McElhone continued.
McElhone has guided Morton to third in the Championship table. The team has recovered well from the exit of former manager David Hopkin to record two wins in a row. However, McElhone isn’t surprised about Morton’s lofty league position. Indeed, he rates the current Morton side highly.
“This is a good team”
“This is a good team, and it’s always been a good team. Credit to the guys, they’ve got lots in the locker, we were positive, and we were very disciplined.”
Morton can now head into the Christmas and New Year period full of confidence. They are next in action on Boxing Day against Inverness. If Orsi can reproduce the form he showed against Queen of the South then the Greenock side will have a great chance of picking up a third league win in a row.
