Hibs are closing in on a transfer for Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Macey as Jack Ross looks to reinforce his goalkeeper department.
The towering stopper is currently looking to find a way out of his existing Arsenal contract, which has six months left to run, before securing a permanent switch to Easter Road.
Ross needs cover in the goalkeeper department, with Dillon Barnes recalled by QPR and number one Ofir Marciano expected to be out injured for a few weeks. The Arsenal man could arrive in the next 24 hours following on from Kevin Dabrowski’s return to the club from a loan spell at Dumbarton.
It could mean Macey is thrown in for a quickfire debut against Celtic on Monday night. The 6ft 7in goalkeeper has featured twice in senior competition for Arsenal and has had loan spells with Accrington Stanley, Plymouth Argyle and Luton Town.
On potential transfer business, Hibs also linked with former Motherwell man Chris Cadden who is currently with Columbus Crew, Ross said: “We are actively trying to strengthen the squad, we need to in terms of numbers and add quality to the group.
“If we can conclude on the deals we are working on at the moment, I’m confident we will do that. We’re hoping by late this evening or tomorrow morning at the latest we’ll have another keeper into the club.
“We found ourselves in a difficult position with Dillon being recalled by QPR and Ofir’s going to be out for a few weeks, if he has no reoccurrence in that period. We have recalled Kevin from Dumbarton and we need to add another. We are hopeful over the next 24 hours that we can confirm that.”
