Arsenal loanee Zech Medley has caught the eye of Kilmarnock manager Tommy Wright – and the Northern Irishman has been pleased with the centre-back.

Medley scored his first senior goal at the weekend that ended a Killie goal drought, the Arsenal loanee’s header sealing a point during the 1-1 draw with Dundee United. It’s a point towards Kilmarnock’s fight for Premiership survival, currently in the relegation play-off spot.

Wright has been pleased with the Arsenal talent and he will be looked upon to be a key man at the back following his winter window arrival. Star centre-back Stuart Findlay has left the club and Medley has shown he can step up, although there is room for improvement.

He said: “Zech had a tendency to over play and I suppose that comes from academy football in England. But there are times when we just be need him to put his foot through the ball, but I’ve been really pleased with him because he’s a good defender.

“He’s really good in that system of stepping out as is Ross Millen on the other side. It’s just his decision making that has to be better at times.

“I was happy he got into the area he did because it’s one thing we’ve noticed in the games that we’ve had is that we haven’t covered all over areas in terms of where we want players to go and attack.”
