Jim Goodwin is asking his St Mirren players for a repeat of the performance that got them a 2-1 win at Celtic Park a few weeks ago when the pair meet this evening.

The Buddies host Celtic in Paisley as they look for back-to-back wins over the current Scottish Premiership champions. Goalscorer Kristian Dennis will be missing but Goodwin is still looking for elements of that stellar performance to be replicated.

Pushing for the top six, Goodwin said of the match and his attacking plan to beat Celtic: “We’re in a great place. The boys are really confident, full of self-belief. There’s no fear, we’re really looking forward to it. I’m just hoping for a similar level of performance to the one we got at Parkhead recently.

“If we can reach those levels again then we’ll cause Celtic problems.  I don’t think the Celtic boys will look forward to coming here. I imagine they’ll be expecting a tough game. We don’t expect an easy game either, but I think it’ll be a really decent game for the neutrals who’ll be watching.

“I don’t mind telling people –  and I don’t mind telling Neil Lennon – that we are looking for a carbon copy of the performance we got at Parkhead. Personnel will have to change as Kristian Dennis will be missing and we may have to rest one or two players.

“Positivity, mindset, all that will be the same, and hopefully it will be the same outcome as well.”
