St Johnstone’s Craig Bryson has saluted the recent contribution made by Saints forward Guy Melamed. The striker scored the equaliser in the midweek 1-1 draw with Hamilton, as he took a long ball in his stride, and fired home.
The goal was compared to a strike by Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp. Bryson thinks that might be going a bit far, but he has been impressed with the forward’s performances this season.
“The way he controlled it”
“I think people are maybe getting carried away when you compare players to Dennis Bergkamp. It was an incredible ball through from Liam Gordon, and just the way he controlled it and finished it was world-class” he said.
“When’s he played he’s always looked a threat. He’s scored a good few goals for us, and he’s got a good few assists. I think when he first came to the club it maybe took him a wee bit of time to settle in to a new may of life and a different style of football.
“A good addition”
“But I think you can see he’s got a lot of good qualities. He can be a really good player for St Johnstone in the next couple of years. I think when he’s played for us, he’s done himself proud. He’s been a good addition to the team” Bryson continued.
Bryson and Melamed will be in action for St Johnstone this afternoon when they take on Hibernian. It is a game that the Saints need to win if they want to finish in the top six this season. Anything less than three points and the top six aspirations will be over.
