Livingston interim manager David Martindale has spoken about what has inspired his team’s turnaround in form. After a run of poor results which ended in the resignation of Gary Holt, the Premiership side have won four in a row since Martindale took over as interim manager.
That run has propelled Livingston away from the Premiership relegation zone and also landed the team a tie against St Mirren in the last four of the Betfred Cup.
Now Martindale has spilled the beans on Livingston’s quick turnaround in form, which has all came about following a 1-0 loss to St Mirren last month.
“Asked ourselves questions”
“We asked ourselves questions after the last St Mirren game. We put demands on one another, we had meetings. It was a combination of things, even Gary (Holt) resigning has probably gave boys a wee bit of realism” he said.

“Look, this is the other side of football, you can’t keep getting bad results and everything stays the same. It was a wee bit of squad realism, and we all started putting demands on one another” Martindale mused.
Confident of Hampden win
Turning to the semi-final against St Mirren next month, Martindale has admitted that he is confident that Livingston can defeat the Saints and reach their first cup final since 2004. However, he believes that Jim Goodwin will also feel confident his side can triumph.

“We’ve got what it takes to beat anybody in this league, and we’ve proven that over the years. But, St Mirren will be saying the exact same thing. Jim (Goodwin) will be saying the exact same thing in his press.”
