Aberdeen’s Ryan Hedges feels that the team has yet to perform to its capabilities this season. The Dons defeated Kilmarnock 2-0 on Sunday to go above Hibernian into third place in the Premiership table.

However, Hedges, who scored the opening goal in the game, believes that Aberdeen can perform better. Indeed, even though the Dons are currently on a four game unbeaten streak in the league, he feels that the team has yet to perform well over 90 minutes this season.

“Good in large spells”

“I think there’s still more to come, I don’t think we’ve put together a 90 minutes performance all season. I think we’ve been very good in large spells of games, but games like today (against Kilmarnock) was probably not our best performance. But we got the job done, I think once we get the 90-minute performance fans and players will definitely know about it” he said.

Hedges has another goal to play for this season, and that is trying to break into the Wales squad. The national team have World Cup qualifiers in March, and the European Champions next summer.

Encouraging words from manager

So far, Hedges has not heard anything about a potential call-up. However, he is hoping to catch the eye of the coaching staff between now and the World Cup qualifiers. The player has received words of encouragement from Derek McInnes.

“Hopefully now with the World Cup qualifiers in March that’ll be something I really want to aim for. I’ve just to keep my head down, keep working, keep helping the team, and see what happens. I said about my aspirations to get to the Euro squad, he (Derek McInnes) said there’s no better place to be than Aberdeen.”
