Dundee manager James McPake fears striker Cillian Sheridan has ruptured his Achilles after the Irishman was stretchered off during yesterday’s 1-0 win over St Mirren.

The Dens Park boss has been impressed with the striker’s performances for his side but is braced for the worst, admitting he was “gutted” to see Sheridan do gown injured.

The well-travelled striker signed a two-year deal in the summer but could now face months out of action, with McPake expressing his upset at the news.

“We think Cillian’s ruptured his Achilles which would be a real shame because he was excellent,” McPake said after his side’s win.

WAYNE ROONEY TO EVERTON IS A JOKE.

“He caused problems and we had joy getting down the sides of their back three with Cillian just willing to run, to do the hard yards.

“We’ve seen them before, it’s a sore one and I’m gutted for him because you could see the threat he was causing and he was getting fitter.”

Despite losing Sheridan, the Dee bounced back from the midweek 5-o thrashing by Ross County to sink St Mirren in Paisley.

Max Anderson’s strike was enough to split the teams and restore the four-point cushion between Dundee and the Staggies at the foot of the Premiership table.
