James McPake has piled praise on Max Anderson and Paul McMullan after the pair played a big part in a 2-0 Dundee win over Arbroath.
McMullan added his fourth and fifth league assists since arriving at the club from Dundee United in January while Anderson notched again from midfield, his second goal in three games. Manager McPake is pleased with what both brought to the table in a victory that puts Dundee fourth in the Scottish Championship.

The Dee boss said: “I think it was a deserved victory but it was far from comfortable, Arbroath are a good side and they make it very hard for you. But I am delighted with a win and the clean sheet, which we have wanted for so long.
“They are asking questions of our goalkeeper and our defence but we stood strong. Paul McMullan was outstanding. He causes real problems to full-backs as they don’t like playing against him, I saw it myself last year.
“A lot of opposition manager’s don’t like facing Paul McMullan and that is why I am glad he is in my team. He sets two goals up, his level of fitness is now up at a level which we are happy with.

“Max Anderson has taken his chance. He’s done great. He’s a kid I have had since I was the U18s and reserve manager. He’s working so hard on his game and you can see that, he listens which is the biggest thing for me. I am delighted for him and he’s earning the right to play.”
