Dunfermline’s Rangers loanee Lewis Mayo is looking forward to facing former Ibrox man Charlie Adam on Saturday. Weather permitting, Dunfermline will face Dundee in a Championship clash at East End Park this weekend.
Mayo can’t wait to come up against a player that he has a lot of respect for.
“Moments of quality”
“In the game earlier in the season against Dundee, there was a few moments in the game where he produced moments of quality. He’s capable of changing a game very quickly with the quality that he’s got” he said.
Mayo feels that playing against a player like Adam and the challenge he poses can only enhance his game.
“For me as a young player, at the start of my career, this is a great challenge for me to go and pit myself against a player of that pedigree. I remember watching him.
“Can only help me”
“If I’m on the pitch playing with these players or against these types of players that can only help me. It’s a challenge that I relish and look forward to” Mayo concluded.
Mayo has played at both right-back and in midfield this season instead of his usual centre-back position. However, he feels that playing in various positions can only help his game going forward.
“For myself and the club, both can be pleased with the challenge that I’m getting right now. It certainly will help me overall as a footballer. It helps my education, there’s a lot I can take from that. So I think both (Rangers and the player) can be happy from that point of view.”
