David McCracken has explained why he’s happy to have brought highly-rated Motherwell talent PJ Morrison to the Falkirk Stadium.
The goalkeeper has been playing second-choice at Fir Park this season to Trevor Carson. Well boss Stephen Robinson has been vocal about how important it is to get his young players playing regular senior football with the loss of Reserve action this term.

Rather than have them on the bench, he’s shipped them out across Scotland, the likes of Ross MacIver, Jamie Semple and his son Harry Robinson all out on loan. Morrison is the latest, joining Falkirk in League One.
He’ll spend the entire campaign with the Bairns but will be behind Robbie Mutch in the Bairns pecking order for now. Fellow Fir Park youngster Matthew Connelly had also joined Falkirk on a short-term loan, but it’s his Well counterpart who’ll work closely with the League One outfit now.
Co-boss McCracken has explained bringing Morrison to Falkirk: “We needed a number two to come in and challenge Robbie. He has been outstanding and did very well last year.

“But we can’t let him filter that away without someone to challenge him. PJ has come in and did great, he looks great in training. He’ll definitely be a big player in the future. Motherwell have stated that.
“We need someone to challenge Robbie and push him on. It’ll be good for his development too having someone who could come in and play if needed.
“Matthew had come in short-term to help us through a couple of games because PJ was away on international duty. But PJ is the main one doing his training here now and working alongside Robbie.”
It was a great start to the League One season for Falkirk last week, beating Montrose 3-1 on the road. Ahead of their league return to the Falkirk Stadium on Saturday against Forfar, McCracken provided an update on Aidan Keena.
Fellow co-boss Lee Miller said after the game against Clyde last week that the former Hearts striker had picked up a bad injury. But scans have confirmed it’s a knock not as bad as first feared.
“Aidan [Keena] had a scan earlier in the week,” said McCracken. “There was a chance he could have been out for months rather than weeks.

“Fortunately it came back fairly positive so we’re maybe talking about another few weeks so it’s much more positive than we thought.”
