Hearts manager Robbie Neilson has been left pleased with Shay Logan after the former Brentford star made his maroon debut in the weekend’s 0-0 draw with Dunfermline.
The Jambos’ poor form of late continued at East End Park but they are now a game closer to lifting the Scottish Championship title. Logan was making his debut in this after the former Brentford man arrived last week.
He has signed on loan from Aberdeen and Neilson was impressed with his right-back, his maroon bow allowing Peter Haring to play midfield after a stop-start season while Michael Smith moved into defence.
Neilson said of Logan: “I thought he did really well for us. He brings a bit of composure and solidity to the defence which is important. Michael Smith’s done brilliantly for us but moving him into the middle gave us that in there as well and I thought Craig Halkett did really well in the physical battle as well.
“Defensively we did well but it’s just that final moment, which in the last few weeks has been lacking. Peter’s found it difficult this season. He’s one of these boys that needs a few games to get going and with no reserve football or bounce games at all, it’s been hard. But you can see him starting to get there and show the levels he was at before his injury.”
