He’s been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea in recent days – but the time will come for Josh Doig to make his big move away from Hibs according to Jack Ross.
The teenage left-back has been a ‘revelation’ at Easter Road this season, becoming Hibs’ number one left-back at times with Lewis Stevenson mentoring him. It’s lead to big names like Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and more being mentioned.
Doig himself has been left level-headed with all the big name speculation, taking it all in his stride. It’s why it was no surprise to see him stay at Easter Road beyond Monday’s deadline, but Ross says a time will come for the defender to make the next step.
He said: “We’ve had nothing concrete for Josh. I think that time will come for him in the future if he continues the progression he has made this season. He has been a real revelation for us this season.
“His progress has been pretty remarkable and he’s another one who is improving with each passing week. He’s not one I’ve had sleepless nights about over the last few days but I’m sure that time will come for him.”
Hibs eventually didn’t have any business on Deadline Day but still became one of the main talking points. Kevin Nisbet handed in a transfer request in order to push through a move to Birmingham City, but the Hibees held onto their top scorer after pushing back big-money bids, the Blues not reaching the reported valuation of £3.5 million.
