Jack Ross has heaped praise on Hibs’ Rangers loanee Jamie Murphy after his best display so far at Easter Road.
Murphy got a goal and an assist as Hibs drew 2-2 with Celtic at the weekend. The winger has had a stop-start time of things in Leith following his move to the capital from Rangers.
But on Saturday he hit top form and pleased Ross. After a spell out with a knee injury, Murphy moved to Burton Albion on loan from Rangers last season and Ross think it’s a spell that could benefit Hibs.
“I think he is benefitting from a consistent run of games,” said Ross. “I think that’s been difficult for him to get in recent times.
“I think when he went on loan to Burton you seen the benefits of him playing every week. It’s been a little bit stop-start here but now he’s getting a run of games. One thing I have challenged him on is goals and assists.
“That’s what we brought him here for and in his last two games he’s got two assists and a goal. That’s encouraging for him and I think he’s going to keep getting better.
“The Burton spell gave him confidence in his knee and we haven’t had any issues with that here. Most of the time he’s been fit and available, he doesn’t miss training with me.
“He’s a player that thrives on playing every week and that’s encouraging for me. The more games he plays, the better he will get.”
