Paul Hanlon says Josh Doig has the potential for a big career in football, with the Hibs youngster recently linked with Arsenal and Chelsea.
The teenage left-back scored his first senior goal last Saturday as Hibs beat Hamilton 2-0. It comes off the back of a January window where multiple big names, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and more, were linked with his name.

Hibees manager Jack Ross knows he’ll be on the ‘radar’ of big clubs soon and centre-back Hanlon can see why: “At half time he was saying ‘I’ve had a few shots now, I don’t know when I’m going to score,’ and then he popped up in the second half. He’s got a massive future in the game, his pace, his physicality, his size for his age.
“He’ll only learn from the games he’s playing. There are wee tweaks here and there that I’d want him to make to his game, but that’s just wee mistakes that I made every week as well and he’s got a squad full of boys willing to help him. I never feel like I’m nursing him through a game.
“He’s striding on and he’s really positive in everything he does. He works hard, he’s honest, when he comes in in the morning he does his wee bit, he helps set up the balls in the morning, so he’s got the right attitude and you always see him in the gym doing an extra little bit as well.

“In terms of having that base to work from in terms of his physical attributes which you need in the modern day game, he’s got it all. Some of the speeds he gets up to during games is frightening. He’s got the fitness, the athleticism, the height, he has got everything at the minute.”
