Jack Ross has provided a Hibs transfer update on Deadline Day with two of his stars stars the subject of bids from Birmingham City and Millwall.

Top scorer Kevin Nisbet has been the subject of a bid in the region of £2.6 million from Birmingham City although that has been rejected. Ryan Porteous was wanted by Millwall but their bid has also been booted out, a figure in the seven-figure bracket not deemed good enough.

Nisbet and Porteous have trained ahead of Tuesday’s match with St Mirren and Ross says he expects both involved: “When you get closer to the window closing, things get more difficult. There are players we may have wanted to bring that have other options they need to take up and then it’s the logistics of travelling, being in the right place at the right and completing the necessary arrangements.

“With each passing hour it makes it unlikely that we will lose players but similarly it makes it more challenging to bring in players. I speak to our players a lot in any case about personal and professional lives.

“I spoke to Kevin and Ryan over the weekend and again today. It’s important we do so, it’s a different experience for them, however it pans out. As I speak now, both trained this morning. Nothing surprises me but it’s more likely they will be with us.”

Meanwhile, Stevie Mallan is out in Turkey to complete a loan move to Yeni Malatyaspor.  The midfielder has now completed all necessary medicals and the deal is subject to international clearance, Ross adding: “It’s and interesting loan move for him. It came about quickly.”

It has now been reported since Ross held his pre-match press conference that Nisbet has handed in a transfer request amid Birmingham City interest. The Blues’ offer initially failed but the striker could now force a move before the end of play today.
