David Hopkin was delighted to see his Greenock Morton side come away with three points against Ayr United to close in on fourth position in the Championship.
Kalvin Orsi and Nicky Cadden scored the two goals as the Ton came back from a goal down to beat the Honest Men 2-1 on their own turf.
Speaking after the game, Hopkin didn’t underestimate how important the win could be for Morton’s season: “It’s a fantastic win for us.
“We scored two great goals and the character we showed in the last ten minutes not to concede was fantastic. I’m absolutely delighted we managed to get three points because it could be a massive three points in the season.”
Hopkin also spoke of his goalkeeper Danny Rogers highly, praising his man between the sticks: “I have to give credit to my players. Danny Rogers was fantastic.
“In difficult conditions I thought Danny’s handling was superb. Maybe people don’t give us as much credit as these players deserve. We’re managing everything, the players are in very good spirits and I think now we’re starting to get a wee bit of belief.
The Ton manager was also impressed with some of the key outfield players in the squad, singling out striker Kalvin Orsi for praise: “When I brought Kalvin to the club from Brechin I think he was playing part-time.
“I think tonight you’ve seen what he can bring and hopefully in the near future we’ll look to get Kalvin signed up for next season. He gives us something we’ve not got. He gives you energy and I think he gave the two Ayr united centre backs trouble”

Hopkin will be hoping that his side can kick on from their performance against Ayr and make a late push for a promotion play-off place.
