Hibs were involved in recruitment ‘speed-dating’ alongside the likes of Liverpool and PSG as Jack Ross indicates January transfer business at Easter Road.
Earlier this week, the Hibees took part in TransferRoom’s Virtual Window Deal Day, where clubs across Europe, including Premier League champions Liverpool, Barcelona and PSG, met for quick-fire recruitment talks.
Easter Road sporting director Graeme Mathie has been involved in previous years as the Hibees look to January for transfers. They currently sit third in the Premiership ahead of Saturday’s match with Hamilton Accies.
Ross has opened up on the virtual meetings and potential January transfers, in and out of Leith: “We will be active to some extent. Naturally with the performances of this season I am content with the players.
“There are probably one to two areas in which we could do with a little more depth. We have spoken in-depth about that and we have spoken about how we move that forward.
“It will depend a little bit on what moves out as well. I don’t anticipate us being overly busy but perhaps something that will keep our squad fresh and put our squad in the best possible place for the rest of the season.
“Our sporting director, Graeme Mathie, took part in the event. It’s fairly regular and it allows networking to happen. It usually happens in-person.
“I think it’s described as the football equivalent of speed-dating because it allows people to interact with each other in a quick period of time. Graeme’s got better banter than me so he might be more successful in securing dates!
“I know he’s participated in it this week. I think there’s always a potential benefit for us as a club. I think the in the past we have uncovered players we hadn’t heard of previously.
“Our recruitment department is robust so it’s just another way of making sure we can cover as many as bases as we can.”
