Dundee boss James McPake has been talking up Osman Sow’s contribution to the Dens Park side’s bid for promotion this season.

The former Dundee United striker has been in fine form this season, scoring eight goals in 14 games. With Dundee set to return to action after a weather enforced lay-off against Queen of the South tomorrow, McPake is hopeful that the 30-year-old can continue his excellent run of form.

“He’s been fantastic. I think since the minute he walked in the door he’s been fit” he said.

“In a good place”

“Touch wood, he’s not had too many injury problems at all really in his time here. He gets tightness just like everybody when he works hard. But he’s scoring goals. His link-up play has been really good and he’s in a good place at this football club.

“You can see how much our players appreciate him, and how much he means to them on the pitch. We’ll just let him carry on doing his work. We’ve got him fit, we’ve got him strong. When he’s playing like this he’s a very good weapon in this league” McPake concluded.

Players are desperate to play

McPake also disclosed that his players are desperate to play football again after the weather has led to their last few games being postponed.

“They work all week to play. When you are getting the message out that it’s another game off you can see the disappointment. They are footballers, and they want to play on a Saturday, so you can see the frustration.

“I’m just glad that it looks like this weekend we are going to get a game. You see that in the players, that they are desperate to get out there and put a performance on.”
