St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin is hopeful that new signing Collin Quaner can make his debut for the Saints at some stage of St Mirren’s match against St Johnstone this afternoon.
Quaner has been without a club since he was released by Huddersfield Town last July. However, after having conversations with his staff, Goodwin is impressed with how fit the player is.
As a result, he could feature against St Johnstone.
“Not far away”
“He’s not far away at all, and I’m absolutely delighted with him” he said.

“I was just speaking to a couple of the staff after training, we’re all really pleasantly surprised at what great condition he is in. Collin is in constant dialogue with the sports scientists to make sure that we’re not asking too much of him, but he looks really sharp at the moment” Goodwin continued.
He went on to favourably compare Quaner to a player who was signed last January, and who took a long time to get up to speed fitness wise.
“Taken aback”
“We signed a player last January, when he came in initially we were hoping he was going to be fitter than what he was. We were taken aback by how much work we had to do to get him up to speed. But Collin’s a completely different kettle of fish.

“Proper professional. You can see he’s been working hard over the last five or six months when he hasn’t had a club, and he looks in great condition. Hopefully we can get Collin to make his debut at the weekend” Goodwin concluded.
